Vulcan Global Manufacturing Solutions Launched
--Former Vulcan Lead Rolls Up Its Subsidiaries, Establishes Global Platform
MILWAUKEE, WI – Jan 29, 2007 -- Vulcan Lead, the leading U.S. manufacturer of radiation shielding, announced today that it is rolling up its multiple subsidiary companies into a new global enterprise that will be called Vulcan Global Manufacturing Solutions (VulcanGMS).
“This is a seminal event for our company,” said Charles H. Yanke, who remains CEO of the newly named organization. “The name change is the culmination of two years of work focused on enhancing our core business, expanding our materials and engineering expertise, and growing our global manufacturing and distribution capabilities. Our name now better reflects what we do – provide cost-competitive, customized radiation shielding solutions to our customers in any sector and in virtually any corner of the globe.”
VulcanGMS will consist of four business units that replace the many smaller subsidiaries that had been launched from the original Vulcan Lead. The four divisions allow the organization to focus on fulfilling industry-specific customer needs, but provide a more seamless approach to its core manufacturing output.
With more than 50 years experience in manufacturing radiation shielding solutions, VulcanGMS provides companies with superior parts, component systems or total engineered solutions. In pursuit of this goal, it has forged partnerships with some of the leading mechanical, electrical and structural engineering firms around the globe. It also works closely with a world-class team of chemists, physicists and materials scientists to continue to push the envelope in providing radiation shielding solutions for the new economy.
The VulcanGMS 4Di group serves the needs of small and large companies in healthcare and security by providing comprehensive design, build and installation services. Using its industry-leading solutions process, this unit of VulcanGMS gains deep insight into client needs through ongoing discussion, then develops, designs, delivers and installs the unique solutions required when the safe handling, transportation and storage of radioactive materials is paramount.
Nuclear medicine and PET have all the issues associated with healthcare supplies and devices, but they also require radiation shielding specifications that must be exact each and every time., Beyond providing end-user shielding solutions for the safe handling and use of radiopharmaceutical diagnostics and therapies, 4Di can also develop and build out of cyclotron facilities and nuclear pharmacies, as well as provide shielding solutions throughout the radiopharmaceutical manufacturing process.
Another key area where radiation protection is critical is in providing shielding solutions that augment homeland security needs. In today’s world, the threat of “dirty” bombs increases daily, and solutions that can provide reliable and safe containment for transport, storage and detonation of suspect packages are in high demand. 4Di partners with some of the largest defense manufacturers to provide shielding solutions.
