VulcanGMS has been a sponsor of the USA Luge team for over 20 years by providing lead weights for lighter athletes. The lead is sewn into the athletes' body suits and attached to their sleds in a fiberglass shielding. VulcanGMS is also a direct financial sponsor of USA Luge. Our lead won bronze at the Nagano Olympics and silver at the Salt Lake City Olympics.
USA Luge is based out of Lake Placid, New York, and is responsible for the recruitment, development and training of athletes in the sport of luge, preparing them to represent themselves and their country in national and international competitions.
In the Olympic off-season USA Luge competes in other competitions around the world. World Cup races have taken place in Torino, Italy, Park City, Utah, and Calgary, Canada.
The Luge team also stays busy in the off season with the Verizon-USA Luge Slider Search and the USA Luge Fantasy Camp. Verizon- USA Luge Slider Search is the official nationwide athlete recruitment tour of USA Luge, targeting young athletes, ages 11-14. The mission of this grass-roots program, sponsored by Verizon and established in 1985, is to identify, train and qualify young athletes for the USA Luge Junior Development Team. The USA Luge 
Fantasy Camp offers its participants an opportunity to experience the thrill of being a world-class luge athlete. The coaching staff, made up of Olympic and World Cup medal winners, offers its expertise to help fully experience the sport of luge with an emphasis on fun and safety.
