It’s fun to work for a company that doesn’t shy away from a challenge. My company’s ability to do an entire nuclear pharmacy installation is a good example of filling one’s niche showing a capacity for growth and adaptation.
As readers of my last two blog postings know, Vulcan makes lead shielding products for syringes and vials used in nuclear medicine. When customers asked us to do more, we developed our ability to work with them in a concurrent engineering mode. Using this two-company team approach, we were able to help design entire systems for preparing and delivering doses of radioactive medicine.
Having demonstrated expertise in these engineering and production areas, another customer asked us to design, manufacture and install a complete nuclear pharmacy. Could we do it? You bet.
The photo at the right shows a nuclear pharmacy in the process of being set up. Here you can see some of our cabinetry for a various pieces of nuclear medicine equipment. The finished assemblies shown here were delivered ready for final installation in a nuclear pharmacy, which happened shortly after this photo was taken.
In addition to manufacturing lead-lined containers and dose prep systems that provide complete radiation safety, we also manufacture the material for use in constructing the entire pharmacy. That includes the lead-lining for the floors, walls and ceiling as well as the leaded glass used in windows of doors and walls [not shown]. Our subcontractors handle the final construction and finishing of these pharmacies.
Our turnkey manufacturing solutions deliver radiation protection to everyone working inside these pharmacy—and people outside the pharmacy but nearby as well.
