Problem- A large manufacturer of nuclear tracer elements found that it had unacceptably high radiation readings in the pumps that moved the fluid byproducts that resulted from the manufacture of the tracers.
Solution- The company turned to VulcanGMS to design a pump shield that would provide the access and could be installed easily. The solution was a set of interlocking stainless steel-encased lead bricks that could be moved using an existing crane assembly.
Results- By turning to the 4Di division of VulcanGMS, the company has been able to make progress against its target goals for reducing the full-body dose reduction experienced by its workers in the plant.
